Call for Book Chapter Proposals: "UN/ORGANIZED: Interorganizational Cooperation & Crisis Management"
The vision and mission for this volume is to showcase a variety of academic/scholarly work that discusses the opportunities and challenges facing past and current interorganizational cooperation frameworks and crisis management techniques utilized by the United Nations System and various regional organizations, and the international consequences they have on different populations.

Persuasive Discourse invites book chapter proposals to be included in a forthcoming edited collection on “UN/ORGANIZED: Interorganizational Cooperation and Crisis Management,” edited by Sorina I. Crisan, PhD.
As highlighted by the first word of the title (i.e., UN = United Nations, Organized, and Unorganized), the book proposes to showcase the level of perceived ‘organized’ versus ‘disorganized’ Crisis Management and Interorganizational Cooperation strategies currently being employed by the United Nations System and various regional organizations (i.e., European Union, African Union, Association of Southeast Asian Nations, League of Arab States, Organization of American States, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, etc.) Furthermore, each chapter is expected to conclude its discussion and analysis with relevant policy recommendations and/or further research avenues for the topics addressed by the author.
Possible topics include, but are not limited to, the following themes:
Discussion and analysis of the following overall topics, and beyond:
Presentation and analysis of past and current international norms, theoretical frameworks, and perspectives, with respect to Interorganizational Cooperation and Crisis Management.
Ongoing scholarly and policy dialogue, research, and design linked to the topics of Interorganizational Cooperation and Crisis Management,
Crisis Management and Governance,
Interorganizational Cooperation and Governance,
Crisis Management and Leadership,
Interorganizational Cooperation and Leadership,
Peacekeeping, Interorganizational Cooperation, and Crisis Management,
Interorganizational Cooperation and Crisis Management case studies used as examples to help explain and illustrate general principles and frameworks, etc.
The role of creativity, innovation, effective decision-making, and persuasion in Crisis Management and Interorganizational Cooperation.
The strategies/frameworks currently being employed by the United Nations System and/or various regional organizations when it comes to Interorganizational Cooperation and Crisis Management.
The link/relationship between Crisis Management and Social Responsibility, SDGs, etc.
European Union Civilian Crisis Management: Cooperation and/or/versus competition.
Peace and Security: The UN-AU peacebuilding partnership and inter-organizational cooperation.
Peace and Security: Interorganizational cooperation in the Global South.
Women leaders working in the fields of Interorganizational Cooperation and Crisis Management.
Diversity and the fields of Interorganizational Cooperation and Crisis Management.
And related topics.
The most important factor for selection will be the author’s ability to: highlight relevant literatures; discuss theoretical concepts and frameworks; select and conduct relevant analytical methodologies to address the discussion points they raise and the case studies that they present; and present a conclusion with clear policy recommendations or avenues for further research in the discussed area. The main target audience for this volume is expected to be: academics, international practitioners, humanitarian professionals, crisis communication officers and managers, international civil servants, government officials, etc.
We welcome individual submissions, but also co-authored pieces by graduate students, faculty, and/or established scholars and academics. The volume has no geographical limitations, and we welcome high-quality proposals from all the parts of the world. The intention for this book is to achieve a 50/50 gender balance and geographical diversity for the chapter authors that it will showcase.
Proposals should include a short CV or biographical statement and a 300-word abstract (or at the most 500). All proposals should be sent to the editor, Dr. Sorina Ioana Crisan (firstname.lastname@example.org), by September 15, 2022.

Book Idea Background:
The concept for this forthcoming volume is based on a panel session organized at the 63rd Annual Convention of the International Studies Association: A Wider Discipline For A Smaller World. The panel session took place on March 29, 2022, and was titled: “Organized Hypocrisy? Interorganizational Cooperation and Crisis Management.” Several of the participating panelists will either be adapting their conference papers for inclusion in this project, or they will write a new paper.
